    GlucoMenu® Apple Spice Waffles

    Recipe Ingredients:
    1 1/4 cup Aunt Jemina original pancake & waffle mix
    1/4 cup egg substitute
    6 fl. oz. water
    3 T. canola oil
    2 t. ground cinnamon
    1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

    Recipe Directions:
    1. Mix waffle mix, water, egg substitute, & oil.  Stir in cinnamon and applesauce.
    2. Heat waffle iron.
    3. Spoon 1/4 of batter on to iron.
    4. Serve immediately after cooked.
    5. Makes 4 waffles.

    Calories: 267,  Carbohydrate: 36 g,  Fiber: 2 g,  Fat: 11 g,  Protein: 6 g,  Sodium: 734 mg

     
     

    Tip of the Week:

    Get your eyes checked annually.  Retinopathy is an eye complication associated with diabetes.  Controlling blood sugar and regular eye doctor visits can help to prevent this complication. The American Diabetes Association recommends having a thorough eye exam when you are diagnosed with diabetes if you are over the age of 30 and every year thereafter.

    "No pain, no gain?"  Physical activity should not be painful.  Gradually increase exercise intensity and duration with each workout.  Avoid the common mistake of jumping into exercise only to pull a muscle, strain a knee, or twist an ankle.  Exercise daily to benefit your health not hamper it with an injury.
